Institute of Banking Studies is a leading professional training Institute affiliated to the Central Bank of Jordan. It was founded in 1971 in accordance with the Central Bank of Jordan Law. IBS as the training arm of the banking sector is managed by a Board of Directors which headed by the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, and included four of representatives of Banking and Financial Institutions in addition to the Secretary General / Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and representative of the University of Jordan. Strategic objectives of IBS are to raise the academic and professional efficiency of the qualified employees and trainees working in the financial and banking sector and developing human cadres and satisfy their desires to advance their scientific and practical abilities. In addition to strengthen cooperation and coordination with Arab, regional, and international financial and banking institutes and institutions. In order to achieve its goals, Institute of Banking Studies presents a large group of training activities and academic programs. As for the training activities which witnessed a tremendous growth during the last few years, they include training courses, seminars in cooperation with regional and international institutions. Beside a group of specialized professional Diplomas in variety of specializations, in addition to the qualification programs for many international professional certificates according to cooperation agreements and partnerships with related International Association and Institutions around the world. The academic program the Institute implement is " MA Program in Banking and Finance " since 2003 in accordance with the academic affiliation and cooperation agreement concluded with the University of Jordan. The program aims at upgrading the academic level of the financial and banking sector employees to develop their professional levels and attain higher managerial positions, in addition to assuming new specialized functions as compared to their previous positions. The curriculum of the program consists of (33) credit hours distributed between (24) credit hours covering (8) compulsory courses and (9) credit hours covering (3) optional courses, the applied practical side of the program represents (40%) of the total number of the credit hours, the structure of the program is based on the path of the comprehensive exam. IBS enjoys strategic local, regional and international relationships with many recognized professional organizations and associations such as Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), ifs School of Finance, MIS training Institute, Euromoney Training, DNA training and consulting, General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI), Union Bank of Switzerland, Bank of Ireland, Union of Arab Banks and others. Furthermore, IBS hosts and organizes in its premises many conferences and forums through its local and regional cooperation channels with institutions in many fields that relates to the banking and financial industry.
